Why it's best:
One of the main reasons ASUS Netbooks are so popular is their long battery life and value, and the 1005HA continues that tradition excellently. The removable six-cell battery offers up to 10.5 hours of battery life – quite a big longer than many competitors. The 1005HA offers a fairly standard set of components with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 processor, 1GB DDR2 RAM (upgradable to 2GB), and a 160GB 5,400RPM hard drive. The 10.1” screen is large enough for anything you’d want to do on a netbook. The keyboard is very good compared to the competition and features a full-size Shift key. This computer has a solid feature set with 3 USB 2.0 ports, an SD card reader, 1.3MP webcam, Stereo speakers, headphone/microphone jacks, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. It also features the slim, stylish design introduced with the 1008HA, though the 1005HA is slightly bulkier and heavier than that model. Overall, the Eee 1005HA is an excellent netbook with class-leading battery life, an attractive design, and a solid feature set, making it an excellent choice for any netbook shopper.

Manufacturer Description: The Eee PC 1005HA-P offers user comfort and convenience with its 92% scaled keyboard, multi-touch touchpad and instant key (for quick access to touchpad-lock). The 10.1-inch (Color-Shine) LED-backlit display and sleek chassis will allow you to work or travel in absolute comfort for hours on end. The generous 170GB ASUS Hybrid Storage will enable you to store, share and...read full description

Recieved 5 StarsArguably the finest 10" netbook with a few caveats, July 5, 2009

There are three US versions of the Asus 1005HA:

- Best Buy offers the 1005HA-B for $299 (plus tax). It features the N270 (1.6GHz 533FSB) cpu, glossy display, 3-Cell 23Wh Li-ion Battery (4 hrs), and a 1.3MP webcam. Excluded are the Bluetooth module, 10GB online Eee storage, and netbook sleeve. This is obviously the "Basic" model. I was ...read full review

Recieved 5 StarsCouldn't be happier, July 3, 2009

Bought this netbook for our upcoming trip to Europe, immediately tried to install Windows 7 RC on it, worked PERFECTLY. I highly recommend buying the 2GB RAM upgrade (I went with the Amazon recommended 2GB 667mhz crucial module), best $20 you'll ever spend. All drivers installed fine on Win7, Aero is enabled, everything is very snappy. Can't wait...read full review

Recieved 5 StarsWhat a Fun Gadget, July 20, 2009

After 4 days with no hiccups I feel confident enough that I got a good one. So I removed the stickers (and the residual glue with cooking oil) and I thought I'd give you my .02 on this little baby. First thing I did was let it charge to a green light before I turned it on. Went through XP setup, Turned off and uninstalled Parental Control so it...read full review

Recieved 5 StarsScared to Death, August 27, 2009

I honestly don't know where to start with this review of the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BU netbook that I bought. I have read all 152 previous reviews on Amazon.com and a whole bunch of others that I found on computer oriented Internet sites. The four and five star ratings far outnumbered the negative ones, but it was the couple of dozen...read full review
