Asus G71Gx-A1 Notebook
Review: The Asus G71 is a hefty 17” notebook that’s not meant for mobility, but is an ideal notebook for gamers that only plan to take it out occasionally, such as to LAN parties. The G71 comes equipped with an Nvidia GTX260M discrete graphics solution with 1GB of GDDR3 memory for excellent gaming performance. Asus allowed for the use of quad-core processors within this notebook as well. The G71 also allows for some freedom to overclock, which is by far and large a luxury in a notebook. The 17.1" screen can be configured with a low resolution of 1280 x 800 for maximum FPS, an intermediary resolution of 1440 x 900, or higher. While expensive, as are any gaming/performance-oriented notebooks, the G71 is not prohibitively expensive like Alienware's 17" gamer laptop offerings. Because of the comparative value of a G71 in terms of the sheer performance it can offer, it makes a good choice for shoppers that desire a mobile gaming platform that can handle all the new games and then some.
Description: More than just a high definition entertainment notebook, the ASUS G71Gx packs the muscle to propel users into a world of immersive gaming and emerge victorious at the end of every encounter. Powered by an Intel® Core™2 Duo processor, the ASUS G71Gx is highly capable of delivering maximum entertainment enjoyment while out and about.

There is a Disc that comes with the computer which allows you to install a Blu-Ray movie player - but it would...read full review
Nice, but...., September 25, 2009
I have had this for 2 days now, playing with my new toy as it were. It does have some nice features and I have to admit, it is fairly quick. The only reason that I gave this laptop 4 stars instead of 5, is that there are flashing leds on the top cover of the laptop that cannot be turned off, (yes I called Asus). So even though you may not be...read full review
