Not everybody wants a pickup that looks or sounds like a Fender. Gibson, Music Man and a host of custom and boutique basses have relied on the big, punchy humbucker sound for generations. Old favorites DiMarzio and Bartolini no longer have the market cornered, with newcomers like SGD, Nordstrand and Rio Grande offering some tough competition.
