Best Canister Vacuum Overall
With the popularity of hard floors comes the need for a vacuum that cleans well, while providing a gentle dusting of bare floor surfaces. While you can vacuum a hard floor with an upright bare-floor model, I find that a canister with a soft floor brush attachment, performs much better. A canister vacuum also makes it easier to vacuum stairs, tight corners and crevices, vehicle interiors and draperies.
I would recommend a powerbrush attachment for use with a canister vacuum for cleaning carpets and mats. It does a more thorough job of getting the deep down dirt out of the fibers than a floor tool.
