Whether or not your cat is indoor only, you should provide it with a clean, private place to use the restroom (many neighbors don't appreciate felines fertilizing their yards haphazardly). Some cats feel claustrophobic in enclosed litter boxes and demand an open air experience. Some cats are frightened by mechanical noises and won't use self-cleaning litter boxes. Whatever receptacle you choose should value the feline's preferences primarily. Appearance, ability to contain odors, and price are meaningless if the cat refuses to use the box. The best litter boxes are made of high quality plastic that won't easily absorb the odor of its contents. They are easy to clean, affordable, and provide ample space for cats to 'do their business'. The litter boxes on this list were chosen based on design, aesthetics, and price.

The Merry Pet Cat Washroom is a pet house and litter box contained in beautiful wainscoting paneling which will compliment a classic interior beautifully. It is a duo function unit which provides a sleeping area for the cat alongside a litter box which is concealed under a fiberboard. The door can be opened wide for easy access cleaning, a shelf provides space to stash supplies, and the stainless steel towel bar helps disguise the cabinet as a permanent part of the room's design. The Merry Pet Cat Washroom is moderately high-priced, but offers more storage and feline amenities than comparable units. Since I believe there is no great substitute for manual cleaning, and that additional storage and classic style are two qualities that set one litter box apart from the rest, I feel the Merry Pet Cat Washroom is the best litter box on the market.
The Omega Paw Roll 'N Clean Litterbox is an inexpensive option for feline parents who highly value ease of cleaning. It is simple to operate, neutrally colored, and approximately one-quarter the cost of a self-cleaning machine. Read Full Review
The Omega Paw Roll 'N Clean Litterbox is designed for easy cleaning and adored by online shoppers. It is a domed litter box with a special pull out tray that traps waste when the unit is rolled from side to side. While it may minimize the efforts of frequent cleanings, the rolling tactic will spread particles to all of the interior surfaces and require that both the hood and litter tray be wiped clean semi-regularly to prevent the spread of germs. The Omega Paw Roll 'N Clean comes in two sizes, small and large, and its neutral coloring will help it to blend in to the decor of whatever room it is placed in. As one of the most affordable, nearly self-cleaning litter boxes on the market, the Omega Paw Clean and Roll is the precise mix of value and utility many consumers desire.
The Scoop Free Self Cleaning Litter Box is fairly expensive but worth every penny for those who are unable to regularly clean up after their cat on their own. Its sensors trigger a rake to move all waste to the rear covered compartment 20 minutes after your feline exits the unit. The only maintenance the owner will need to perform is to change out the disposable tray of premium blue crystals approximately once a month. Read Full Review
The Scoop Free Self Cleaning Litter Box is every lazy cat lover's dream. All you have to do is set out the box, plug it in, slide in a disposable tray of premium blue crystals, and watch it work its magic. The box contains sensors which detect when your cat has visited and set a timer to rake the unit 20 minutes after your cat exits. They will reset the timer should your cat return before the 20 minutes has expired. Some felines are frightened by the noise and motion of the scoop free design, but most easily adjust to the routine. Once every 20 to 30 days, the owner should replace the disposable tray with a fresh batch of premium blue crystals. The Scoop Free Self Cleaning Litter Box is expensive, but the hands-off cleanliness designed by MIT-educated cat owners is worth every penny to the consumer who is too busy or too lazy to perform the service manually.

Modernist Cat's standard cabinet is a gorgeous place to hide a litter box. It is handcrafted with walnut, coated with finish to wipe clean safely with a wet sponge, contains entry holes on either side and additional doors for human access, and maintains an impeccable modern style. Modernist Cat offers five different color options and is strong enough to serve as a bench for humans. Although their cabinet is quite an expensive place to stash a kitty restroom, it's unlikely your houseguests would ever guess that was its main purpose as it seems too beautiful to be anything other than a designer bookshelf.
