Best Hockey Skates

Article Contents

Obviously, skating is the most essential part of any player’s game. So it’s surprising how many people believe that just any old skates will do the job. In fact, the best skates will do more than just last long, they’ll protect your feet from hard shots and board impacts, allow you to move better than other players, and support your ankle (which cheap skates absolutely will not do). The right skates will allow anyone to reach their full potential on the ice, the wrong ones will leave a player blistered, distracted, and off balanced. So do yourself a favor and give yourself the tools you’ll need to concentrate on the game, and not your feet.

Best Hockey Skates Overall:

I bought some cheap skates just to have as backup recently, and decided to test them out at a few open skates and scrimmages. They couldnt be that bad, could they?

In fact, they could be. They didnt fit comfortably, didnt support my ankles, and seemed to actually dig into my feet more and more as the games went on. I also felt off-balanced, which of course affected my concentration. After a few games I happened to catch a slap shot right above the blade and the plastic snapped, thus ending the reign of the backup skates.

The point is that if you want to play the game well, and have confidence on the ice, you need good skates. Good skating is the foundation the sport is built on, and if youre not equipped with the best, you wont play to the best of your ability. So I went out and found the best skates available. These skates were chosen based on how well they meet the needs of all different kinds of players and durability.
