Best Red Wine 1999

1999 was a solid vintage for most of the world, though not exceptional in many wine-growing regions. In fact, outside of Red Burgundy, the vintage was just average. That said, top performers in Bordeaux and California are suitable wines for a celebration. For superlative experiences and for the long-term, Burgundy is going to be the place to be. Rather than putting up a list of young burgundies though, I've offered selections from other top regions that will show well in the short term but carry a fair amount of cellaring.
