I've been looking for a new (or used) freezer for a while to replace my existing 31 year old Kenmore chest freezer. The choices are slim and Frigidaire seems to be one of the few manufactures still making freezers. The problem I have with every Frigidaire I've looked at and sorry I don't have the model numbers on hand, is they have the cheapest door liners I have ever seen in an appliance.
Maybe they supply something different to Canada but universally the Frigidaires I've looked at in the Portland, OR / Vancouver, WA area have door liners you can pinch together with your fingers, that would bend under the weight of just a couple of cans. The plastic "brackets" or stops that go across the width of the shelves in the door to prevent items from sliding out can easily be bent with one finger.
I can't think of anything else that would have plastic this thin to use as an example. On my 25 year old Wards refrigerator I pulled the door liner and filled the recesses with expanding polyurethane foam. It was not a great liner to start with but the treatment has allowed it to endure. If I had two of the Frigidaire liners, stacked them together and then filled them with foam I'm not sure they would stand up to normal usage and it still wouldn't be as good as the Wards.
I consider what Frigidaire is supplying as a liner generally unsuitable for consumer use and have written them and told them the same. If they cut that much in the door liner what did they do to the parts you can't see. This may be a wonderful performer for temperature out of the box but what will it be like in 5 years?
My old freezer does need to be replaced and it is an energy hog compared to modern appliances. Replacing it with a unit that is poorly made only means I will transfer the cost from energy consumption to early replacement and spoiled foods. Less "green" for enegery but more green for non-disposal
I wish I new something better to suggest. I found this site trying to make that decision and while looking at used freezers on Craig’s List. A large concern I have with new refrigerators and freezers is most only come with a 1 year warranty, even on the sealed system. The compressor and sealed system for the Freon are the heart of the system and expensive to work on and replace. I have written several manufacturers to lobby for multi-year warranties. I will gladly pay a few hundred dollars for a well constructed appliance. How much extra would it cost to install a compressor that could be guaranteed for 5 or 7 years instead of 1? Forget piling on features, just give me reliability and value for the money spent!
