Best Vintage of Chateau Lafite Rothschild (1960-1969)
The 60's are a very polarized decade which attains great heights (1961) and catastrophic lows (1963/1968). This is a decade that can largely be skipped if you are a Lafite lover since even the '61 is solid, but considerably lesser than almost all the other first growths (Haut Brion, Latour, Mouton).

There really isn't anything wrong with '61 Lafite, but there isn't anything particularly right, either. Though a couple bottles have had the capacity to surprise me and provide a really excellent experience, this is usually an "ok, what are we drinking next" ... read full review
Why it's a best pick:
Though '64 and '66 are ok vintages for Bordeaux, the Lafites are old, tired and unflattering. Drinkable, but not truly enjoyable. Not recommended unless you are celebrating a specific event that occured in one year or the other.... read full review
