Best Wetsuit for Surfing

(November 02, 2009)

With the exception of some tropical locations and portions of Florida the ocean is usually one chilly place. The average temperature of the surface of the ocean in most places is a little below 60 degrees Fahrenheit but anyone who has been in the water knows how much colder it can get just inches below the surface. So when you are surfing it is not only unsafe to go out in the water without a wetsuit it is also pretty stupid as low you can get hypothermia pretty quickly out in the water.

Wetsuits also afford a modicum of protection against ocean debris should you bail hardcore off your board after which the wave thoughtlessly drags your face along the ocean bottom. (I know it’s happened to you.) So just as is true with condoms it is always best to be covered than not to be. Don’t be a dummy. Wear a wetsuit.
