CMAT pedals - Brownie

Why it's best:
Although it is a bit of a misnomer to discuss a drive pedal that delivers the “Brown Sound”, this one comes darn close. I’m not sure at all if the name is intentional, but in my opinion, the folks at CMAT Pedals have earned the right to use it. This pedal uses a very standard layout; “Gain”, “Level” and “Tone” are the only three controls that are needed here. The output is very plexi-like, producing an organic sounding drive that is quite creamy. Of course, many other factors will determine how close you get to the Holy Grail Van Halen tone such as your pickups, your amp, etc… but for a strong drive sound foundation; this pedal is a really awesome way to go.
