Detroit Metro Airport

Why it's best:
Rarely is Detroit considered to have the best of anything, but if you have to connect, this place is a great one.  Northwest (now owned by Delta) has had a hub here for many years, but only recently was a brand new terminal build to house the operation.  The concourses are wide, clean, and easy to navigate, especially with a train running overhead to carry you from gate to gate.  While the weather can be rough in this part of the world, there isn't an overwhelming amount of traffic to keep you stuck on the ground for long.
