Duralast Gold Car Battery

Duralast Gold Car Battery Add to MyBests

Expert Review

Sold in AutoZone stores, Duralast batteries are manufactured by the same people who make DieHard batteries for Sears. Though it may not be name-brand, Duralast Gold batteries feature performance on par with their DieHard counterparts, the DieHard Gold series. This means 800+ cold cranking amps to start your car reliably in bitter, freezing winter temperatures. These batteries also feature large reserve capacities, and are a maintenance-free design. For those in need of a high-performance battery on a budget, the Duralast Gold batteries from AutoZone will provide you with just that.Rating: 4.25/5

I purchased a 34DLG in 04/'09 for my (06 Liberty) and had to return on 09/'11 to replace. Here I am another 2 yrs later and my battery is unable to keep charge however am unable to return it because Autozone kept my original purchase date from 2009 and I have no warranty on battery #2. If I knew this battery had a standard 2yr lifespan I wouldn't have wasted over $100.

I bought a Duralast Gold battery in 2008 and paid $85.00. I had to have replaced in 2 years and was replaced free of charge. Today I again had to replace and the cost is now $120.00 and due to over 3yr warranty autozone prorated and gave me 40.00 off but had to pay a 12.00 core charge and I paid 110.00. I have had my Honda accord for 6 years and have had 3 batteries. I don't understand why the battery is not lasting as long as I think it should after all it is autozone's top of the line battery. Do not think I will buy another one and curious to see how long this one last.

Mike and Dan...I Used The Sears Die-Hard-Gold $110 for over 30 years , until...they started lasting between 1.9 and 2.5 years...I had the same issues with my RX300Lexus, I35 Infiniti and 530I BMW...sam exact thing , so I went and got a Duralast, only to know at the store it was from the same maker as Die Hard...he he he he incredible!Die Hards are probably the worst Batteries in the Market Today...Sears gives you the so call" Prorated" but it goes back to when you originally purchased...they are soooo Bad the one in the Infiniti went for 1.9 and the "pro rated " one for 2.2 yrs..!!! Tomorrow we are going to get the duralast...should we get the Everlast maxx better?

I have been using the exact same Duralast Gold in my Acura for 10 years now with not so much as a hiccup. It's endured all blizzards, heatwaves, and hurricanes that have struck up here in the Northeast over the last decade. It has also survived 180,000 miles of driving. With this type of record....I can't see buying any other brand of battery.

I have a five year old Duralast with top mount posts from a vehicle I have long disposed of. My remaing vehicles are side post. I keep the Duralast in my garage on a piece of cardboard. I charge it two or three times a year and use it to jump my other vehicles when needed. I have a Suburban and an older Jag. The crap Die Hard's in them are only kept alive by the Duralast. Great battery. I can not kill the beast.

sooo what's going on, if they are made by the same people why Duralast is better now than DieHard...is it because of some Diff parts ot something one has and the other doesnt? thanks Dan

It's because Johnson Control is who makes these batteries and they make them to the needs of the vender and price. This means Autozone can tell them what performance they want, hot long they want them to last and how much they are willing to pay. They may both be made by the some company but not to the same specs.
