Ernie Ball Music Man Classic Collection StingRay 5-String Bass

Expert Review

If you had to describe Music Man’s Classic Stingray 5 bass guitar in one word, it would have to be thick. Everything about this high-end instrument, from its tone to its build, really gives players something to chew on, yet never at the sacrifice of comfort or playability. The bolt-on neck is extremely stable, while the 7.5 inch radius fingerboard feels easy on the fingertips. The back of the Stingray’s neck is finished with a unique hand-rubbed special wax and gunstock oil blend that will make moving around on this thing feel like a breeze.

This bass guitar has what has been described as a beefy tone, and that can only be attributed to the electronic configuration of the Alnico Humbucker pickup. This is simply a bass tone that walks into the bar and instantly picks a fight with the first person to look at it funny; luckily, you have the option to tweak the tone’s attitude with an active 2-band EQ. With an included hardshell case, you can always rest assured that this high-end axe will remain safe should YOU happen to find yourself in an actual bar brawl.Rating: 4.5/5
