The Firefly glowPhone is an upgraded version of the original and well-respected Firefly phone. It has a few new features but for the most part, it maintains its original structure and upholds its reputation that parent’s love and children need. The menu system on this phone is better than the older version and the phone itself is slightly larger but thinner. Unlike the original Firefly phone, the glowPhone has the ability to receive text messaging and voicemails. Other features include a 50 contact phone book accessed by parents through a PIN number, a dedicated emergency call button and dedicated buttons for mom and dad. Parents will appreciate the amount of parental control that they get with this phone and will not need to worry about their kids racking up a large bill since the phone is prepaid. The only drawbacks are the low battery life and lack of features. But if you're looking for a phone that is strictly about communication, the Firefly glowPhone may be the best phone for your child. It's also an excellent choice for parents that already have an AT&T plan.

We bought this from Wal Mart as a pre-paid phone for $48.88. We simply put my son's sim card into it from his existing AT&T cell phone and it works like a charm. Entering phone numbers was a breeze and I could not be happier that we did not have to update our AT&T contract for another 2 years to get this phone. This is a wonderful first phone for your children. Make sure you have coverage in your area before you buy it but other then that I have really enjoyed this phone. I can set who I will allow my children to talk to and block numbers from calling that are not on their list plus I am in control of that with a pin#. I bought this phone for my 7 year old nephew! I am very happy with it, it only allows him to call his mom and dad and in this day in age with all the crime out there! We feel safe knowing our nephew can call if he needs HELP!

I've read horrible reviews about the service on these things. Let me start by saying my son was given this phone on his 5th birthday at the end of December. My son's father and I share him between our houses, and this has been a fabulous way for us to "keep in touch" with him. It allows us to have instant access to our child when away.
