Why it's best:
Many enthusiasts and experts have long considered Fuji as a leader when it comes to low-light performance in the compact camera segment. The Fujifilm Finepix F200 EXR continues that tradition, outperforming others in its class at high ISO settings. This camera produces bright and detailed images all the way up to ISO 800. At ISO 400, images are very clean, vivid, and detailed. This camera is even usable at ISO 1600 for web images and small prints, though you shouldn’t bother trying any ISO setting higher than that.

This camera offers two modes: a high resolution 12MP mode (HR) and a pixel binned 6MP mode (SN). The SN mode produces cleaner and slightly more detailed output, and for most users, 6MP resolution is plenty. If you want point & shoot simplicity, the EXR Auto Mode makes this camera easy to use. However, one caveat with EXR Auto Mode is that it always defaults to Auto ISO, giving you less control over light sensitivity settings. It also tends to choose a higher ISO setting than you need in many situations, so if you’re willing to adjust settings yourself, you’ll get better results using other modes or manual controls.

This camera has excellent dynamic range, especially in Dynamic Range mode, showing great results when shooting scenes composed of both bright and shadowy areas. It also has a very good flash capability. For daily use, it’s a great performer as well. The wide angle 5x lens offers a very usable range of 28-140mm, and the image stabilization feature helps capture blur-free images. This camera also features very good build quality and feels great in your hand. The large 3.0-inch LCD screen is also a plus. Overall, anyone seeking a compact camera that delivers great photo quality even at high ISO settings should highly consider the Fuji F200 EXR.

Recieved 5 StarsGreat P&S camera but avoid EXR Auto mode at all costs, March 10 2009

I received this camera a week ago and have been very impressed with it so far. I had previously bought a Panasonic FX150 in December but returned it after 2 weeks due to horrible ISO400 performance and too much noise on the lower ISO settings as well. I had high hopes for this camera as I wanted a...read full review

Recieved 3 StarsDepends on What You Want it For, April 02 2009

I don't mean for this to be an in depth review. There are a lot of truly excellent in depth reviews posted here already.

I followed this camera since announcement and have been eagerly awaiting its release here in Canada. After about a week, though, it's going back.

Recieved 5 StarsExcellent Camera for IQ, What it is and What it Isn't, March 11 2009

The short and sweet of it is this probably the sub-compact camera that will give you the best Image Quality (IQ) of any other camera in this category. I do not consider the Panny LX3 as being in this category as it is larger. If size is not an issue, then an interesting comparison can be drawn whe...read full review
