Garmin Aera 796 Aviation GPS
The Aera 796 features a 7" touch-screen that utilizes 3D vision technology which presents your surrouding terrain in a virtual three-dimensional format from behind the aircraft for a complete perspective on everything in the immediate vicinity. This includes all land and water features in addition to any and all obstacles, signposts, runways and other landmarks in close proximity of your heading. Since the 796 uses a touch-screen interface all you need to do is swipe your finger across the display to get a full 360 view of every area around the aircraft; and with Garmin's avoidance capabilities, the device can telegraph existing hazards in advance to help you avoid collision with color-coded alerts and symbols across the map. Garmin's device also makes going paperless a cinch, with geo-referenced VFR and IFR enroute charts pre-loaded into the memory that look and act just like traditional charts. There's always a full-color document viewer to easily read manuals, charts, and any other e-documents that are easily downloaded to the unit, and there's even a scratch-pad feature for jotting down notes during your trip. Chopper pilots can use the 796 as well, with its City Navigator compatibility you can search and locate suitable landing areas and flight plan waypoints while navigating around urban areas and rural landscapes alike. The optional GXM antenna also offers high-resolution radio options for listening to a wide variety of music, talk, and weather channels in the cockpit.
