Donvier 1-Quart Ice Cream Maker
For a modern take on the old crank handle ice cream makers, choose the Donvier Manual Ice Cream Maker. It uses a plastic crank handle to mix the ingredients and make up to a quart of ice cream. The Donvier uses an outer freezer bowl which must remain in your freezer for about 7 hours before it can be used. An inner ice cream bowl is then inserted, ingredients are added and you turn the crank occasionally for about 20 minutes to produce ice cream. The inner bowl wipes clean when the ice cream is removed, making this a very efficient way to make ice cream. However, you must place the freezer bowl into the freezer and wait another 7 hours before you make your next batch, a bit of a buzz kill for devoted ice cream fans.
