Intel i7-4960X Extreme Edition LGA 2011 Processors BX80633I74960X
Expert Review
This processor has six cores with Intel hyperthreading that gives it a total of 12 threads. The latest PC games and high-end video editing software will run beautifully with this processor, and it can definitely handle the most demanding tasks you throw at it. The 3.6GHz clock speed is already terrific, but you can potentially tune that up to 4.0GHz if you really want to get every last bit of performance out of this model. This CPU uses the Ivy Bridge-E chipset, which is built upon older Ivy Bridge architecture to provide improved performance and compatibility with the LGA2011 socket. It includes a ton of cache memory and runs beautifully, but the price tag on it is very high.
