iRobot Roomba 530 Vacuum

broken after 5 times of use, November 17, 2009

it gave me a charging error of 3 after about 5 times of normal use and cleaning. All the customer support can do was to try to sell me another one for another couple of hundreds dollars. very dissappointed

I have mostly hardwood floors and the thought of lugging my upright vacuum out of the closet and pushing it around for 30-40 minutes sounds as good as being punched in the face. Now all I have to do is hit a large glowing button and my robot butler "Mr. Belvadere" takes care of the cleaning. Its been fantastic so far! You will have to clean the brushes and empty the dirt container frequently, but dumping out a bin every once in awhile is FAR better than vacuuming manually like a peasant from the past.

Roomba makes things so much easier.

I gave this product 5 stars because I think it does exactly what it should as long as you understand that it isn't completely hassle free. First of all, we almost never run Roomba when we're not at home. With the dog hair, often times one of the sweepers underneath go out of alignment and will make this clicking noise. All that has to be done is to pause it, flip it over, and clean the dog hair out of the spindles (which can be a pain). The first time we ever ran the Roomba, we had to clear out the spindles every 2 minutes but now we only have to clear it out maybe once a run. While this can be a pain, it's still much better to sit at home and do another task and only have to empty the Roomba once in a while. Besides, our regular vacuum is even more difficult to clean dog hair out of the spindles so I really don't mind the Roomba.

One thing I will add, consider getting another lighthouse/virtual wall if you're going to buy one to have a complete set. We only have one and are planning on buying another at some point. minimize

This is a great product so far. WE have had it for a few weeks and it sweeps the crumbs and pet hairs. It is noisy so we can't turn it on when we sleep but that is ok. My husband uses it more than I do. I love that it goes back to its docking station when it is done. Buyer beware, October 17, 2009

Well we loved this little robot and it did a decent job but...it lasted two weeks. I was hoping to get at least a year out of it before running into the troubles everybody else seems to have. But it was not to be, the left wheel stop turning after cleaning the house for the second time in two weeks. Given the nightmarish reviews of iRobot's customer service I am just returning this puppy and going back to my vacuum cleaner. At least until iRobot get serious about reliability.
