Kenwood KVT-516 DVD Receiver
One of the most compelling reasons to install an in-dash navigation system in your car as opposed to buying a portable GPS unit is the fact that in-dash systems can be used as mobile multimedia entertainment systems. Kenwood's KVT-516 may not be a standard single-DIN in-dash navigation system, but it is in fact a multimedia receiver to which you can easily add navigation functionality by installing the separately-sold KNA-G610 unit. Doing so brings Garmin navigation to the retractable 7-inch touchscreen, complete with the latest features such as 3D mapping, spoken directions and street names, advanced lane assist with junction view, and Garmin's unique ecoRoute. Kenwood offers other expansion modules to widen the KVT-516's list of abilities, including an iPod adapter, Bluetooth, HD Rario, Satellite radio, and a rear view camera. Doing so may be expensive, but allows you to build a customized mobile entertainment system equipped with the features that you want. Otherwise, the KVT-516 comes with a built-in 22 watt RMS amplifier for good audio performance, and 3 sets of 2V preamp outputs for connecting other audio equipment. If your priority is to equip your car or truck with a multimedia entertainment control center with navigation functionality, Kenwood's KVT-516 DVD receiver with the KNA-G610 navigation module is one of the best ways to do so.
