With a footprint of just 15.6- by 15.0-inches, it will take up less space on your dorm room desk than most ink jets, and with its modest 10.9-inch height you won't feel like it's towering over you. It weighs a fairly hefty 32-pounds, which you'll certainly notice on your annual moves between home and college, but that's light for a color laser.
  Claimed speeds are more realistic for lasers than for ink jets, so you can expect the 1600W to live up to its 20 page per minute (ppm) claim for printing monochrome text pages. However it slows down to 5 ppm for color, so although it will be faster than most ink jets, don't expect blazing speed.
  
  The 200-sheet input capacity is enough so you won't have to add paper annoyingly often. You shouldn't have to change the ink cartridges very often either.
