The 4GB Livescribe Echo Pen is a superb smart pen for students, business professionals, and anyone looking for a smart pen that can record not only what you are writing but what you are hearing as well. The Echo line is the new smartpen from Livescribe and is an update on their Pulse brand. Many features have been updated and improved, from cosmetics to core. The internal memory capacities have been increased from 1GB and 2GB to 4GB and 8GB.
What makes the Echo stand out from the competition is it’s ability records audio as it is recording the written text. This can be useful in a variety of situations. For example if you are writing in a classroom environment the pen will record what the teacher is saying in addition to saving the written text. The written text is digitally stored on the 4GB internal memory and can then be uploaded to either a PC or a Mac. By simply tapping the written text you can hear an audio version account of what was being said while taking notes. Though special notebooks (which can only be purchased through Livescribe) are required to use the Echo, they are quite affordable. With a price tag of $170 and a user friendly experience, the Livescrive Echo Smartpen easily wins the number one spot on this list.
