Why it's a best pick:
The super-slim Sony SRS-TP1 portable sound system is an excellent travel companion. While most portable laptop speakers are indeed small, they don't always come equipped with features that make them easy to carry. The SRS-TP1, on the other hand, is all about easy to carry. When not in use it collapses into a carrying case, making the whole unit about the same size as a Playstation portable game system.
The SRS-TP1 can run on batteries or on an AC adapter. This is both good and bad. On the one hand, you don't have to use up a USB port on your speakers and your speakers won't draw power from your laptop battery. On the other hand, replacing individual batteries is a pain. The fact that the SRS-TP1 doesn't use USB does mean that it can be use with other devices such as MP3 players.
The SRS-TP1 doesn't offer the best sound, but it is reasonably loud and clear. Portability is ultimately its great strength – this is your best option if you travel frequently.
