Marantz NR1605 7.1 Slim Line 4K Ultra HD Receiver
While most A/V Receivers continue to be large and bulky, Marantz offers slim and stylish receivers delivering great performance while being easier to fit on a shelf or otherwise integrate into your setup. While the smaller size means some compromise, the 7.1-channel NR1605 still manages to offer an output of 90 watts per channel. The design is optimized to get the most performance possible, allowing this receiver to deliver performance similar to receivers with much more power. Setup is simple, and the Audyssey MultEQ makes calibration easy.
The NR1605 has improved upon the connectivity of its predecessor, now offering eight HDMI 2.0 inputs. Analog connectivity includes two component inputs, one component output, three composite inputs, and one composite output. This year also sees the inclusion of modern features such as built-in WiFi and Bluetooth, while maintaining support for DLNA, AirPlay, and built-in internet radio and music streaming apps. Powered second-zone functionality is also included, along with 4K upscaling, and both 4K and 3D passthrough.
While the features, performance, and design of the NR1605 is excellent, the price is quite steep at around $700. The major difference between this receiver and its competitors really comes down to personal preference and the slim design, making this a great buy if you're willing to pay a premium.
