An example of outstanding design, construction, features and performance, the Lone Star 1X12 from Mesa is an out of the park home run. Although the stock power tubes are 6L6s, you can swap them out for EL34s. Furthermore, you can assign 2 or 4 of the tubes to either channel for 50 / 100 Watt power. Both channels include a foot-switch able boost control, with the 2nd channel boasting a multi-stage cascading gain circuit. Something that really impressed me is that the configuration options are many; 1X12, 2X12 or 4X10, this is fantastic. Many overlook the joys of the 4X10 open-back speaker setup and you can have this wonderful amp in that flavor if you like. The list of features runs out the door, but what really matters most is the sound, and it is incredible. The clean channel allows for lush chording and snappy twang if you like.
