Why it's best:
Now that the former performance champ -- the Pioneer KURO -- is no longer available, Panasonic’s V10 plasma TVs are the new leader. This sleek plasma TV offers exceptional picture quality with extremely deep black levels, accurate colors, and great grayscale performance. Just like the G10, Panasonic’s V10 series offers a THX mode for easily obtaining an accurate picture. However, for more experienced users, the V10’s additional picture-adjustment options make it possible to get an even better picture using the Custom mode. The V10 also has excellent video processing capability and can correctly handle 1080p/24 sources without flicker thanks to its 96Hz mode. This is a great feature for buyers with Blu-ray players that can output outputting 1080p/24. The TC-P50V10 offers plenty of connectivity options with four HDMI inputs (including one on the side), composite and S-video, two component inputs, and a PC input. There’s also an Ethernet port for accessing content via VieraCast including Amazon Video on Demand, YouTube videos, and stocks. This HDTV features the company’s NEO PDP panel which provides improved energy efficiency over last year’s plasmas. However, it still consumes much more power than the latest LCD TV models. Videophiles seeking an attractive, well-designed HDTV will appreciate the Panasonic TC-P50V10’s stylish looks and stellar performance. And while many viewers will find that the G10 is a better value because of its lower price tag, those willing to spend the extra money for the V10 won’t be disappointed by its stellar performance.

Manufacturer Description: Panasonic 50-inch Viera V10 Series Black Plasma Flat Panel HDTV, wide color gamut covers 120-percent of the HDTV color standard. This approaches the level of colors in cinemas and produces images with extremely rich colors. THX reproduces movie images exactly as the movies creators intended them.

Recieved 4 StarsGood value and great picture quality, June 29, 2009

We purchased this television after looking at other Sony LCD and Panasonic plasma models (G10, S10). Even this higher end V10 is less money than a comparably sized LCD by several hundred dollars. I chose this model over the S series for its networking capabilites (renting streaming Amazon movies is pretty cool) and the G series for its 96Hz 24p...read full review

Recieved 5 StarsThe hype is right - this is Panasonic's best plasma yet!, July 31, 2009

I'm writing this as the former owner of Panasonic's 46" 800U plasma.

This tv is fantastic. The picture quality is nothing short of amazing; [post break-in] image retention has been decreased significantly from last year's models; 96Hz 1080p/24 mode has eliminated flicker, and 48Hz mode is still selectable for those who prefer the...read full review

Recieved 5 StarsOutstanding TV, September 6, 2009

Before making my purchase I had narrowed down my choices to the Sony 52XBR9 LCD, the Samsung LN52B750 LCD, the Samsung PN50B860 plasma, and the Panasonic TC-P50V10 plasma. All had a superior picture, but I chose the Panasonic because:

1. The Sony & the Samsung LCDs' both had viewing angle issues. The pictures were superb from...read full review

After almost a year of indecision I finally pulled the trigger and bought the 50 inch panasonic V10. Purchased online from 6th Ave Electronics. UPS killed the first one sent to me. Never even made it to the house, just a tracking message saying it was damaged in transit and could not be delivered.A replacement was shipped out the following week...read full review

I have been looking around for a tv for a long time and googled best tv. This brought me to Cnet's review of tv's where this tv was an editors choice. I will be honest with you, I would have been happy and impressed with pretty much any of the sony's or samsungs as well, but I am very happy with this tv for the last 2 months. The picture...read full review
