Onkyo TX-NR5010 9.2-Channel THX Certified Network A/V Receiver
Onkyo's flagship TX-NR5010 contains some of the best that Onkyo has to offer in terms of design, performance, and features. While it doesn’t come cheap, it’s a well-rounded receiver for those with a large home theater. The TX-NR5010 would likely be overkill for a smaller home theater, with 9.2 channels offering a very powerful 185 watts per channel. Internal circuitry is designed to minimize interference, with the massive Toroidal Transformer and two separate transformers for handling audio and video processing; this means low noise and distortion levels consistent with audiophile-grade output.
The TX-NR5010 is THX Ultra2 Plus Certified, and easy to setup thanks to the included Audyssey MultEQ for calibration. The dual core video engine with HQV Vida and Marvell Qdeo provides powerful video processing performance, with 4K upscaling capability. The TX-NR5010 also offers two HDMI outputs, 11.4 multichannel pre-outs (which can support the use of a discrete amplifier if preferred), and the ability to have three powered zones which expand the versatility options for your setup.
Connectivity is all-around excellent, with an outstanding nine HDMI inputs (eight rear, one front - including a single MHL), both front and rear USB ports, twin antenna inputs, two component video inputs and a single output, five composite inputs with a single output, a built-in phono preamp, and the ability to add WiFi and Bluetooth. Without listing every single option, the TX-NR5010 is very good for both large and custom installations. Features such as internet streaming are included, but this receiver is primarily an excellent choice for those who prioritize connectivity and performance.
