This is a great toothbrush ... it really scrubs under your gums well. The only contender for a better toothbrush is Phillips or Rodent. Rodent isn't really waterproof which is very important to me. I've read (but not experienced) some bad things about the over aggressive nature of Phillips's products. My gums really went through a workout but they never bled from this product. I personally never used the polishing head and I can only say I have not experienced better teeth whitening which I expected. I should point out that the 4000 is really nice at getting behind and in the gums of the last molars. I operates in a variety of modes but I always use it on full power. The 4000 model cleans much better that the Braun Pulsonic which is an excellent toothbrush. I use both.Overall, I'm really happy with the brush. Replacement heads are about $8 each (contrary to some things you might read). The brush I bought only came with two heads (Floss and Polish) which is contrary to some descriptions indicating 3 (or 5) heads are included. Your supposed to throw away the brush after the rechargeable battery fails which is a bummer but I'm pretty sure Phillips is also like this. I initially bought a sensitive head but realized I don't need it because the standard heads are fine. I should point out that my gums were in pretty bad shape and its remarkable that standard heads on full power didn't really hurt me. The best thing I did buy for the brush was a "precision" head. Its a great brush that will really clean well and won't rip up your gums if you don't mind its price tag. Maybe some day I might
