Why it's best:
The Panasonic TC-P50X1 is the value leader, offering great performance for a killer price. This HDTV delivers very impressive black level performance that matches or exceeds many more expensive competitors. While the panel is only 720p, most hi-def content is only available in 720p or 1080i anyway. And if you are watching 1080p content such as Blu-ray movies, it’ll be hard to notice the resolution difference at this screen size. The G10 series still offers better picture quality because of its deeper black levels, THX mode, and superior color accuracy, but the TC-P50X1 is an excellent choice for anyone seeking an HDTV under $1000. Considering its price, the only significant downside is that it's far less efficient than comparable LCD TVs.

Tip: There's also a 42" version for smaller living rooms or bedrooms.

Manufacturer Description: The X1 Series Plasma HDTVs are ideal for sports, movies and gaming, with crisp, focused images during fast-moving scenes. The 600Hz Sub-field Drive produces crisp, focused images for sports, dramatic action, and all other fast-moving scenes. Your full-HD movies and games never looked sharper. With VIERA Link, you can control your compatible Panasonic DVD recorder, Blu-ray ...read full description

I have really no complaints for this tv, except that it only has an optical audio out. It works great for playing video games, I have an xbox 360 and PS2, and games look awesome. Highly Recommend this...read full review

I like Panasonic products; I myself still have a panasonic tube tv, vcr and dvd player that work perfectly after 8 years of daily use. While this plasma is a good unit overall, here is a word of warning. if any of your tv channels are in the 4:3...read full review

This TV is all it was advertised to be. Awesome picture, easy to use and inexpensive. The sound is not good but I will resolve that soon with a Panasonic Home Theater system. Crisp and Clean, this is the perfect TV for the entry level HDTV buyer. Don't pass it up.
