Why it's best:
With a large 54” screen, stellar performance, and a very reasonable price, the Panasonic TC-P54G10 is the best plasma TV overall. Picture quality is outstanding with incredibly deep black levels and extremely accurate colors thanks to the THX mode, which automatically adjusts picture settings for optimal viewing. However, the light output in this mode is a bit low, so you may want to use the Custom mode if you’re seeking a brighter picture. The Panasonic TC-P54G10 features VieraCast, which provides access to interactive Internet services such as YouTube or Picasa over Ethernet. Connectivity is sufficient with 3 HDMI ports (2 in the rear, 1 on the side) and plenty of other inputs such as composite, S-video, and VGA. Other highlights include a 2:3 pull-down setting and anti image retention to prevent burn-in.

Though this plasma TV is not as energy efficient as comparably-sized LCD TVs, it still performs decently in this regard. It costs less than its LCD TV rivals and performs better than most, making it an excellent value. While the company's V10 series offers slightly better performance, it comes at a higher price, making the G10 a better deal for most buyers. At this price point, the TC-P54G10 simply can’t be beat.

Manufacturer Description: If you demand the best from your viewing experience, the G10 Series of Plasma HDTVs was created just for you. They boast cinema-quality movie reproduction, clear, smooth sports and gaming action even Web entertainment. All made possible by Neo PDP technology, which delivers sharp, detailed images, deep blacks and remarkable brightness, and all with lower power consumption.

I just got the TCP54G10. STUNNING! A little history. I have been looking at HDTVs for about 3 years, and looking at DLPs originally, then went into this year thinking LCD is the way to go. I'm glad I waited, the inverse relationship between the technology and the prices is right this year.

I finally convinced my fiancee that we needed to upgrade her old 27 inch CRT in our living room to a new HDTV and after researching for a few months, I came to the conclusion that this was the TV I wanted to replace it with. I have absolutely no regrets on this purchase. The picture is stunning out of the box when hooked up to our DirecTV HD...read full review

I bought this TV from the local Video Only for $1850 in late May, but didn't pick it up until the Friday before Father's Day (since I got it for my father), or install it until a week later.

I have it hooked up to:
3 Sony 400 Disc DVD Changers
Sony Receiver

I did tons of research before buying and first bought a 50 G10 from BestBuy but realized I could get the 54 from amazon for maybe an extra 100$. I love the 54 size, a 58 would be pushing, definitely too big for the viewing distance and for my room. I hope more brands make this size. Picture quality is great!!! Nice blacks and great colors I...read full review

I ordered this Panasonic TC54 G10 on Saturday morning and it arrived on the following Thursday (4 days ahead of schedule). The delivery service from Amazon (Pilot) was excellent. I arrived home to find the TV sitting on my stand, hooked-up to my components (tip the delivery guys) and ready to provide a substantial upgrade over my 720P 42 inch set...read full review
