Tama Imperialstar 5-Piece Drum Kit
Tama’s Imperialstar is the right choice for the beginning metal drummer that still wants a great sounding versatile kit. Imperialstar drums are rock solid and can take a lot of abuse. I think these drums sound great in heavy rock or metal music, and I even know of some professionals that use them. While they excel in the metal genre, they are still versatile enough for beginners to use for any genre of music.
The shells are 8-ply poplar wood and produce a big sound while the tom mounting system uses a ball and socket joint and L rods to eliminate hardware buzz. The kit usually includes high quality hardware and an Iron Cobra 200 pedal, one of the best beginning pedals available. The complete package usually included Meinl cymbals, which sound far better than any other cymbals that would be included with an entry-level kit.
The bass drum shell is pretty unique in that it’s not wood, but rather a synthetic material designed to be more durable. One complaint that I have of entry-level wood hoops is that they usually warp quickly but fortunately these bass drum hoops are designed to hold their shape. As with most entry-level kits, there are many different colors and configurations available to match your personal preferences.
