Tamron 17-50mm SP AF XR Di II LD Lens For Canon
Expert Review
The 17-50mm from Tamron covers a similar range as most kit lenses, but is much faster, with a f2.8 minimum aperture. Faster lenses are better for low light and creating bokeh. The lens doesn't include optical image stabilization, but it isn't really needed for a 55mm lens. Low dispersion glass elements and internal surface coatings are also included for sharp, high quality images. With a 10.63 minimum focusing distance, this lens can also be used for some types of macro shots as well. Weighing just under a pound, it won't add much to your kit either.
