Transition TR 500

Expert Review

The TR 500 (succeeding the TR 250 and 450) is a very intuitive bike to ride, with only a short breaking in period before it feels comfy. You can ride without thinking about the bike as it just senses the trail like fat tire osmosis. The bike navigates obstacle-ridden trails like Magellan but is lively enough for whipping around a bike park circuit. Feeling creative? The 500 will comply with your every downhill whim with its ability to tweak chain stays, head angle, and rear travel to match rider with bike with terrain. Outfitted with Shimano and SRAM components and RockShox suspension, the bikes large size tips the scales at just under a hefty 36 pounds. Some riders have noticed noise from rear end and it being a bit on the heavy side, but the 500 loves the whole trail from jumps to tight and twisty. This bike maintains its poise shooting downhill like a gallant knight with an attitude.Rating: 4.5/5
