Trek Superfly 9.7 Mountain Bike

Expert Review

The Superfly 9.7 is primed to launch on to the trail, with an infectious lively and competitive personality. Trek uses its OCLV Mountain carbon to keep the frame light and burly, specifically built for the abuse of off-roading. The FOX Evolution fork sports a CTD (Climb, Trail, Descend) damper for easy selections to match whatever topography you encounter. A Shimano SLX/XT drivetrain, with 2x10 crankset for wide gear range, powers the bike with precision, and SLX hydraulic disc brakes offer reliable stopping when you need it.

Trek’s Smart Wheel Size system pairs optimum wheel to frame size (larger frames get 29er wheels) for perfect control, and G2 geometry, highlighted by a custom-offset fork (29er models only), gives the Superfly impeccable handling traits for dicey trail sections. The bike snaps through turns with verve and springs up climbs like a Slinky in reverse. The 9.7 is a very confident, race-ready rig that inspires all-out fun on the trails, superbly designed for extended excursions or toeing a start line at your local throw-down.Rating: 4/5
