Over the past 20 years, I've been involved in almost every aspect of the consumer and professional electronics industry as an enthusiast, salesperson, installer, and pro audio engineer.
My first job in the consumer electronics industry was designing, selling, and installing car audio systems, but I quickly transitioned to home theaters and whole-house audio systems, where I spent the bulk of my electronics career. I also branched into professional audio, where I've run sound for concerts in front of audiences of ten, and audiences of tens of thousands, and my experience there gave me more insight into speaker design and construction, and how to fine tune a system to sound best in a given room or environment.
Over the years, I've had the privilege to audition literally thousands of speakers, amps, AVRs, and other equipment from hundreds of manufacturers, ranging in price from a few dollars to a few hundred thousand. I've found over the years that more money doesn't always equal performance, and while there are objective ways to test and evaluate this equipment, in the end the beauty is almost always in the ear of the beholder.
I try to make my reviews accessible to the layperson but also useful to the audiophile, and I hope they will inspire readers not just to purchase based on my opinion, but to go out and audition equipment for themselves, to listen with a discerning ear and buy what gives them the sound they are looking for.
