Why it's a best pick:
Zalman is a longtime leader in producing quiet and efficient cooling products, and its CNPS9700 CPU cooler is no exception. The Zalman heatsink fan features a radial design and 110mm fan to maximize airflow, and it can be oriented to aid in case airflow, similar to the Tuniq Tower. Its full copper construction guarantees great thermal conductivity and cool temperatures, and Zalman's build quality is top notch, from the polished and lapped CPU contact to the fins. However, a few design flaws prevent this cooler from being the best overall. The fins are sharp enough to cut skin, so the user must take care to prevent injury during installation. Also, the 110mm fan is proprietary and not user-replaceable, so you’re out of luck if it ever breaks and needs to be replaced.

Manufacturer Description: The air cooled CPU cooler finally arrives! Our CNPS9700 LED boasts ultimate cooling performance in ultra quiet operation. In addition, this particular cooler comes with a specially formulated thermal grease, the ZM-STG1 enhancing the thermal conduction. This combination will provide the best cooling performance available in the market.

Recieved 5 StarsVery cool, very quiet, August 25, 2008

This is an excellent cooler not just for people looking to overclock their computers, but also for anyone looking for a quiet cooling solution for their CPU. It offers great cooling as well as very low noise.

The design is excellent and extremely attractive to look at if you have a case that lets you see inside. The blue LEDs really...read full review

Recieved 5 StarsWicked Cool, December 17, 2007

I just built a new system using a Core 2 Duo E6750 chip and added this cooler with Arctic Silver thermal grease. I'm using the Raidmax Smilodon Extreme Black case (the one with the green LEDs). It's got four fans, two to bring air into the machine and two to exhale.

My machine runs in an air conditioned room, so I've actually...read full review

Recieved 3 StarsAs An Upgrade, Worth the Trouble and Cost?, April 18, 2009

1. These comments only apply to Intel Socket 775 installations.

2. For an initial installation into a clear-sided enclosure, this device is acceptable. For an upgrade, it may not be worth the effort, and it is definitely not worth the cost. Noise reduction is not that much when compared with 20 dollar CPU fans (as determined by...read full review

Recieved 5 StarsIt may be more cooler than you need, which is exactly what you want., April 15, 2008

If anything, this is probably more cooling than you need and that's exactly what you want. I've yet to see CPU temp exceed 34 C (12 degrees over ambient) on my E3110 overclocked to 3.75GHz.

Exceptional cooler. Only caveats are weight and size. Do some research and make sure it will fit in your case. As to weight, it exceeds Intel's...read full review
