Best Hybrid Clubs

For many years, golfers struggled with trying to get the ball out of the rough with long irons or fairway woods.  The creation of hybrids offered a great advantage over these other types of clubs, since hybrids tend to be more versatile than traditional golf clubs through all different lies and conditions.  Long gone are the days of laying up following an errant tee shot to the rough, a ball that lands in a fairway bunker, or a ball that happens to roll in a divot.  Today’s hybrids continue to become more and more sophisticated, allowing golfers the ability to control the ball, while maximizing distance. Read below to find our picks for the best hybrid golf clubs.

Adams Golf Tight Lies Hybrid Clubs

Adams has always done a great job of focusing their energy on fairway woods and they’ve done a great job of bringing hybrid fairway woods into the fold, focusing on making sure everyone can play with them. This is the best all-around hybrid club because it offers the best balance, the best weighting and brings some really innovative technology to the party as well.

Previously, Adams utilized a slot technology found in many of their clubs over the course of the last five years. For the first time in that time period, the company went back to the drawing board and really made some impressive changes. Ghost Slot Technology ensures that the spin is right, miss-hits are limited, and whether a player is looking to get out of a bind or just use it for that typical approach shot, this is the ideal club. By adding a more streamlined profile and club head body along with a Tri-Sole design, they’ve made this club is second-to-none. The addition of the Tri-Sole design makes hitting with one of these clubs a breeze.

TaylorMade Men's SLDR 3 Golf Rescue Hybrid Club

TaylorMade has been a leader within the golfing industry for years now, and their hybrid clubs are no exception to that rule. This selection isn’t the newest, latest, or greatest in terms of options but that doesn’t take anything away from this club’s appeal at all. TaylorMade has released newer models, but the SLDR is still a standard within the TaylorMade family. It increases ball speed and simultaneously ensures off-center shots still have ample accuracy and distance. They’ve also incorporated Speed Pocket technology which creates an insanely low center of gravity; for anyone who has played with a TaylorMade driver or fairway wood, they know this manufacturer ensures the center of gravity is as low as it possibly can be.

Callaway XR Speed Hybrid Golf Clubs

Callaway XR Speed Hybrid Golf Clubs

The Callaway XR Speed hybrid club expands on the X2 Hot which was one of the best hybrids on the market. However, this new hybrid club came along and perfected all of the great qualities that Callaway packed into the X2, making the XR Speed something any golfer would love to have in their bag. The face is comprised of a Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup, which allows the ball to really react well off the face of the club. This creates greater flex, and with greater flex comes greater distance.

First off, Callaway lowered the center of gravity by 46 percent from the X2 Hot which had an incredibly low center of gravity to begin with. That means off-center shots are handled well and negative impacts are felt significantly less. Ball speed, and club head speed at moment of impact are both increased over the previous X2 Hot model, and that’s something that really goes a long way to improving the overall quality of the hybrid.

Wilson Staff D200 Hybrid Golf Clubs

Wilson Staff D200 Hybrid Golf Clubs

Wilson is definitely not the first club maker that golfers think about when it comes to high-end or high-performing golf clubs. Wilson is doing a really great job though to distance themselves from the low-end clubs that they were once known for, and moving faster and faster, toward clubs that perform at a high, tour-level standards.

This hybrid club features one of the thinnest and hottest faces ever found on a Wilson fairway wood, or hybrid. Wilson has also employed Right Light Technology which allows players to swing faster for greater distance. The technology is founded on players being able to swing with the same amount of effort, and ultimately having a higher-quality shot than with other hybrids.

These clubs also feature a Progressive Head Design allowing players to have a head which makes sense for the particular club they’re using. Starting with the low-loft 2-hybrid, the club head is largest, and then working down toward the 7-hybrid those progressively get smaller, and smaller.

Nike Vapor Hybrid Clubs

Nike Vapor Hybrid Clubs

The Nike Vapor Flex hybrid clubs are brand new for 2015 but they’re thoroughly impressive for the amount of technology they bring to the table. This club combines a number of unique features like Compression Channel and  NexCOR face technologies which really provide added ball speed and greater distance. These clubs have an incredibly low center of gravity so there’s a high launch and low spin; two things great for any golfer looking to boost their overall performance with a hybrid.

The versatility of this hybrid elevates it to another level. FlexLoft 2 technology provides 15 different launch options, giving you the ability to change the pattern and setup of the club as your game evolves. While this isn’t something necessarily ground-breaking for the game of golf as a whole, it’s definitely unique to hybrids, as they’ve only begun to see customization options implemented.

Women's Cobra Fly-Z Hybrid

Women's Cobra Fly-Z Hybrid

This year, the Cobra Women’s Fly-Z hybrid delivers all of the right things in the same club and it’s impossible to beat. It starts with a low, and pushed-back center of gravity. Combined with a Speed Channel Face exclusive to Cobra  this club ensures greater distance is had on all shots, especially off-center shots.

The club face is also thinner and larger, ensuring the greatest amount of flex and distance of any hybrid on the list along with enhanced head and ball speed. Additionally, this club delivers options for loft other than the default setting making this hybrid undoubtedly the best option currently on the market.

Adams Women's Tight Lies Hybrid Golf Clubs

Adams Women's Tight Lies Hybrid Golf Clubs

Adams has been producing high-quality hybrid clubs for as long as anyone in the game has been. The technology packed into this hybrid is almost unmatched throughout the industry. This club was designed with one of the lowest profiles of any hybrid on the market for a low center of gravity; important with any golf club because it means miscues are significantly mitigated. Adams also adds Ghost Slot Technology which ensures this hybrid delivers  higher ball speeds. The Tri-Sole design also makes the club one of the easiest to hit from any lie. Whether that is the deep rough, or the center of the fairway  this club will ensure you get the most out of whatever you have.

Callaway Women's Big Bertha Hybrid

This is Callaway’s longest hybrid on the market. It features a Hyper Speed Face Cup on the front of the club to increase ball speed at any point on the face whether on the toe, heel, or dead-center. Those miscues will have greater distance, and be felt less as bad shots. This hybrid also features a low and forgiving center of gravity that means a high-launch and maximum ball speed.

If that’s not enough, the club also features an adjustable head and hosel so a player can choose between 8 different loft settings, and gain the ability to shape shots based on lie, loft, and desired outcome. There’s also a lot to be said for the design of the club from a shaping and sizing standpoint. The newer hybrids offered by Callaway and some of the other major names in the game are designed with larger club heads, which make playing the clubs from tougher positions less of a challenge.

Cobra Women's Baffler XL Hybrid Golf Club

The Cobra Baffler XL hybrid can be known and measured as a standard within the industry. While it doesn’t feature any of the fancy bells and whistles that some of the other clubs have (like adjustable loft), it does have some very important key features ensuring the club delivers at a high-level  all of the time.

The Baffler XL is billed as one of the most forgiving and easy-to-hit hybrids in 40 years and it does this with two very important features. First, it offers oversized rails sitting at the bottom of the club which limit friction between the club and turf, so shots from any location on the course are  more forgiving; it also ensures the greatest distance is achieved on all of those shots. The club also features high MOI tungsten weighting in the back of the club to lower the center of gravity, and ensure that greater distance is achieved on approach shots.

TaylorMade Wome's Jetspeed Golf Rescue

This hybrid club does some really interesting things with the design phase making it an excellent choice for any golfer. First, it’s worth mentioning the center of gravity was actually lowered from previous models to ensure the clubs center would fall below the center of the golf ball. This provides you with the highest possible launch angle, especially for individuals having trouble getting the ball in the air when they’re hitting those long irons.

This club also features TaylorMades Speed Pocket technology which increases ball and club head speeds at moment of impact. These factors together make this a club that would work well for anyone who is looking to replace their pesky 3 or 4 iron. Additionally, the club is well-weighted and has the right feel; it’s not too clunky and powerful enough to get players through any lie around the course.

Cobra Men's W Bio Cell Hybrid Club

Cobra delivers a seriously powerful hybrid with the BiO CELL hybrid. The lineup includes Cobras exclusive E9 Face Technology which repositions most of the weight around the club into two specific areas. This repositioning creates an incredibly low center of gravity, as well as super-high moment of impact speed. This means longer and straighter shots on a more regular basis  and even mitigates repercussions from bad shots.

The club also features a high strength steel face which generates more bounce and helps make for longer distance. If that’s not enough, Cobra even added MyFly8 Technology to maximize the distance, trajectory, and yardage gaps throughout their game so players are able to modify the lofts they play at. Giving every player 8 options with their hybrid is taking value to an entirely different level.

Tour Edge Men's Hot Launch Hybrid Club

Tour Edge has always been one of the most underrated names in the game of golf. However, this club really changes that perception entirely especially when it comes to hybrids. This club combines VFT technology and a shallow face design ensuring center of gravity is low, shots are easier to hit, and distance is maximized in every shot.

The raw design of the club really caters to those shots that have found the rough, as well. It’s designed with a pear shape in mind, which minimizes the amount of drag on the turf when a player is hitting a shot from the fairway or rough. The 450 SS hyper steel the club is manufactured with also ensures shots gain a ton of distance from anywhere on the course. This club doesn’t feel overwhelming either, as it delivers a very confident playing experience.

Adams Golf Adams Men's Idea Tech V4 Hybrid

This hybrid is similar to the other Adams hybrid on the list, as it features Velocity Slot Technology, but delivers in other areas which really make this club a superior pick. You get an incredibly fair price combined with Cut-Thru Slot Technology, as well as a lower center of gravity. This hybrid is even more unique in it generates the same club head speed as a typical driver, with the technology, and design features placed inside this club.

This is one hybrid club that will get you anywhere you need to go on the course. It feels incredibly well balanced, offering some of the best innovation in the game. Anyone who is looking for an easy-to-hit hybrid for getting out of the rough and closer to the green on approach shots, this is the club for you.

Mens Idea A12 Os Hybrid Irons

Adams have enjoyed year-after-year of success which is largely attributed to the way their Idea hybrid clubs have evolved over the years. While the line of Idea hybrid clubs are no longer Adams top-end clubs, this means players looking to grab a club with great technology at a great price are winners with any of the Idea clubs.

This particular club brings Velocity Slot Technology to the table, which is among the best golf technology any club maker could put inside a fairway wood or hybrid. This is without question one of the most-forgiving hybrid clubs on the market, and it gives every player an advantage; especially when they’re playing from the rough. These hybrids are billed as the easiest to hit of any Adams hybrid, and they really live up to that name. It doesn’t hurt that the price is as extremely affordable either.

The addition of the Tri-Sole design makes hitting with one of these clubs a breeze.

Callaway Men's Big Bertha Alpha 815

This hybrid features a Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup exclusive to Callaway which guarantees distance from anywhere on the face. More than 70 percent of shots hit by amateurs are hit off-center so having a hybrid which accommodates those shots even just slightly off-center is absolutely crucial. The hyper steel face also ensures every shot will have as much distance as it possibly can.

This club also features a lot of customization options as well. Standing Wave technology and Sole Weighting technology keep the center of gravity low, but make this club one of the easier clubs to hit from anywhere. Specifically, it means monitoring ball flight, adjusting loft, and leaving individuality up to the golfer whenever possible. It will help players improve while accommodating those who have trouble making solid contact every time.

Wilson Staff D200 Hybrid Golf Clubs

Wilson Staff D200 Hybrid Golf Clubs

Wilson is definitely not the first club maker that golfers think about when it comes to high-end or high-performing golf clubs. Adams Golf Men's XTD Ti Fairway Wood

This is another member of the Tight Lies family Adams has produced. This club delivers incredibly low center of gravity, meaning shots are launched at higher angles than ever before. This club features progressive face thickness, meaning Adams will set the club up to your preferences, and it even offers additional customization options.

The adjustable loft on the hybrid gives players the ability to adjust loft by a degree and a half in both ways. An added bonus to this club are the adjustable weights which mean the club can be as heavy or light as the player would like it to be. For those with higher handicaps, the lighter nature of the club will be one of the best features they’ll notice immediately. It will help them get through the grass in any lie, in any conditions while setting them up for success each and every time they’re out on the course.

Cleveland Golf Men's Black 2015 Hybrid

Cleveland does something really special with this club most other manufacturers have struggled to do in actual practice. While this club may not look as flashy as some of the other picks on the list, it does deliver an incredible playing experience. Everyone wants to swing like a pro, but very few clubs actually deliver on putting a club in the hands of a player that will help them craft a swing that improves their game

First off, this hybrid has great weighting and design such as a lowered center of gravity while placing design features and emphasis lower in the club. This means higher club head speed, more distance, and delivers a tremendous amount of distance. The CG Black has a very simple, compact design which means an easy to hit club from anywhere around the course. Whether you’re in the rough, fairway, or fairway bunker, this club really will benefit high handicap players at all points on the course.

TaylorMade Men's R15 TP Rescue Club

With the R15 TP Rescue, the first thing anyone notices is the shape of this club which is built to be played from anywhere with optimal results. That means getting out of deep rough, or picking it clean off of the fairway, while making a run at that par-5 in two shots. However, the great design of this club doesn’t stop there.

This tour hybrid is billed as a club that leaves a smaller footprint than competitors and that’s evident as soon as the player picks up the club. The compact shape and neutral alignment of the club means no player will feel any bias when they’re hitting this club. It also comes standard with a loft sleeve that allows players to set the club up exactly how they want it, giving them up to 3 degrees of play in the club.

Callaway XR Pro Hybrid

The Callaway XR Pro means business. This club was designed with a Forged Hyper Speed Face Cup which allows for increased ball speed, as well as club head speed at moment of impact. The amount of bounce created with the hyper steel used in the club face makes this a club which has incredible feel when a solid shot is hit. Even when an off-center shot occurs, it doesn’t give the player the typical feedback so they know they hit a bad shot.

The results are rarely as bad as they could be, and that’s largely due to the great design and technology in this club. This club has a very low center of gravity while the club head was designed to do two things. First, Callaway lowered the center of gravity as well as making the club design more compact. They repositioned some of the major features of the club to give the engineers an opportunity to really drop the center of gravity to the bottom, and most-forward position possible on the club.

Adams Golf 2014 Golf Hybrid Club

Adams has created a hybrid many recreational or amateur players are going to look at and wonder what is going on inside the club. It doesn’t look like your typical hybrid because at first glance it looks more like a hybrid designed before a lot of technology was even being put into them. However, Adams hit a home run with this club thanks to its incredibly simple design.

The club head is designed upside down and combined with Velocity Slot Technology. What players are left with is a club that’s easier while getting through the various levels of turf, thanks to the Velocity Slot Technology. This technology creates a very limited amount of friction on the sole of the club when contact is being made, allowing more energy to be passed through the club and to the ball.

TaylorMade Men's AeroBurner TP Rescue Club

This club is brand new for TaylorMade this year, and features the company’s brand new advanced aerodynamic shape designed with a shallow face for maximizing distance on approach shots or shots from the rough. This means the face is hotter, and greater amount of bounce can be achieved at moment of impact.

If that’s not enough, TaylorMade continues to lower the center of gravity in all of their hybrids, and this club was no exception to that rule. It’s well-designed, and has a relatively compact nature while the distance that can be gained with this club is undoubtedly its greatest feature. This hybrid also features Speed Pocket Technology which ensures the sole of the club is designed to withstand the various lies a player could find themselves hitting from during a causal round of golf.
